Wade Udean Samples, a beacon of love and faith, went with the Lord on March 17, 2025, in his hometown of Dallas, TX. Born on June 23, 1949, to Clyde and Violet Samples, Wade's life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion.
Wade's journey began alongside his loving parents and siblings, Patricia Helsley and Sandra Pollard, in Dallas, where he would lay down roots that grew deep and wide. His family grew to include his cherished wife, Linda Harris Samples, whom he married on October 20, 1967, in a union that would flourish for 58 years. Together, they welcomed their children, Kevin Samples and the late Tammy Samples Zeller, and rejoiced in the blessings of their grandchildren, Nathaniel, Grant, Katelin, and Alexis. Wade's life was further enriched by the presence of his daughter-in-law, Amanda Samples, son-in-law, Joel Zeller, sisters-in-law, Sharon Bray and husband Dean, Kim Goforth, and Patricia Wilson and husband Greg, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Buddy Samples, sister, Geraline Dugan, and his daughter.
Wade's professional life was marked by dedication and service. He spent three decades with AT&T, formerly known as Southwestern Bell, before retiring from Alcatel Lucent in 2017 after 17 years. His work ethic was unparalleled, but it was his engagement outside the office that truly defined him. Wade led many bible studies and life groups, leaving an indelible mark on his community through his unwavering commitment to sharing the love of Jesus.
A man of many interests, Wade found joy in family trips, engaging in a friendly game of softball, playing cards, and golfing with friends. An avid sports fan, he could be counted on to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers with fervor, but it was spoiling his family and grandkids that brought him the most joy. He was often found sneaking off to Circle Grill after a round of golf with his son, or deeply immersed in political discussions that were as passionate as they were informed.
Wade's love for Biblical history was not just a pastime but a pursuit that illuminated his faith-filled life. He spent countless hours studying, researching, and discussing his beliefs, always eager to learn more and share his insights with others. His commitment to his faith was reflected in his active membership at Bethany Baptist, Shiloh Terrace, and finally, Lakepointe Church in Rockwall.
Described by those who knew him best as loving, faith-filled, and kind, Wade's legacy is one of warmth and generosity. His ability to engage in genuine conversation, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and the depth of his compassion made him a cherished figure in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
