He was born February 20, 1944, in Mariemont, Ohio, son of the late Chester William & Isla (Shaw) Ferguson. The family resided in Sugartree Ridge. A graduate of Whiteoak High School and the University of Cincinnati, Waldo worked in finance and accounting for multiple organizations, including Blue Cross of Southwest Ohio, Broward County School Board and Ohio Valley Manor.

He has been a member of multiple Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Ohio and Florida. Most recently he had attended First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof, FL and Mowrystown Presbyterian Church. Waldo sang his first solo in church at age five and continued using this gift to faithfully serve the Lord the rest of his life. He gave himself to Jesus at Sugartree Ridge United Methodist Church at a young age and was a member of gospel singing groups, including the Ferguson Family Quartet and Inner Spirit. He routinely sang in church choirs, often singing solos. He especially enjoyed singing in a country gospel band at Chapel in the Woods in recent years.

In addition to his parents, Waldo was preceded in death by his first wife of almost 50 years, Judy (Yochum) Ferguson, who passed away in December 2014. The couple were married in 1965.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15 from 11am to 1pm at New Beginnings Church in Sugartree Ridge; 2326 OH-136, Hillsboro, OH 45133. Glenn Hess will be officiating services at 1pm with interment immediately following in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
