Walker Mitchell Deakins

Walker Mitchell Deakins, 75, a resident of Hill Top, Arkansas passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at his home. He was born July 5, 1947, at Hill Top to Clyde Lee and Mildred Ethel (Conner) Deakins.
Walker married Candy Lea Brown on December 27, 1980, at Harrison. He was a faithful member of the Hill Top church of Christ. His faith, his family, and his friends were the most important things in his life. He enjoyed fishing, cracking walnuts, feeding the birds in the winter with his grandchildren, and making sorghum. He lived simply, was a great storyteller, and never met a stranger, inevitably asking, "Where are you from?". Always pointing people to Christ, he would want to make certain that they had a church home. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Barbara Deakins and a niece, Julie Deakins.
Walker is survived by his wife of 41 years, Candy Deakins of Hill Top; a son and daughter-in-law, Will Sawyer and Crystal Dawn Deakins of Hill Top; a daughter and son-in-law, Whitney Lea and T. J. Pulliam of Harrison; five grandchildren, Tead Alan Deakins and Cadyn Daylee Deakins both of Hill Top, Emeline Bailea Pulliam, Wyatt Walker Pulliam and Newt James Pulliam, all of Harrison; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jimmy Fowler of Springdale; a nephew, Jeff Deakins of Fairfield, Idaho; nieces, Beverly Bolte of Fayetteville and Betsy Horne of Springdale; many cousins, their spouses, and other beloved family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Hill Top Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers are: Tead Deakins, Alan Koizumi, Tim Slape, Keith Slape, Andy Coble, Evan Johnson, Doug Holt and Dale Houston. Honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Fowler, Phillip Deakins, Jeff Deakins, Gerald Sims, Louis Sims, Leon Borland, Arden Leonard Borland, David Conner, Gerald Annis, T. J. Pulliam, Mike Brown, James Brown, Bill Darnell, Greg Farmer, and Dwain Lair.
