New Iberia – Arrangements are pending for Wallace John Besson, Sr., 72, who passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Wallace John Besson, Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 4, 1953, to the late Hilton and Irene Chighizola Besson, and was a 1971 graduate of Grand Isle High School. He dedicated many years to the oilfield as a dispatcher and ultimately retired from Offshore Operators.
Wallace cherished his time spent with his family, reveling in the love and laughter that filled their gatherings. His heart swelled with pride as he spent time with his kids and grandkids, always eager to share a story or teach them a new skill. He often reminded them of the importance of family bonds, instilling values that will resonate through generations to come.
An early riser at heart, Wallace took great pleasure in the peaceful hours spent on his porch, where he welcomed the dawn with open arms. With each sunrise, he found solace in the beauty of nature, listening to the sweet melodies of chirping birds as they heralded the start of a new day. It was in these moments of quiet reflection that he truly connected with the world around him.
Wallace's love for the outdoors was evident in his many passions. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or woodworking, he embraced any opportunity to spend outdoors.
Wallace loved playing cards, particularly Pedro, Bourre', and Phase 10, often gathering with friends and family for spirited matches filled with laughter and friendly competition. He loved telling storied about winning the Powerball and what he would do if he won. His knack for cracking jokes lightened the atmosphere and made every gathering an occasion to remember, drawing smiles and laughter from everyone.
