Wallace (Wally) Edmond Glasscock was born on December 29, 1934, in Sapulpa,
Oklahoma. He died peacefully on November 17, 2025, at 90 years of age. His parents
were Wheeler and Inez (Leturno) Glasscock. Wally grew up in Oklahoma and
graduated from Velma Alma High School in 1952, where he played football. He also
played football at Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
He married Betty Jean West in 1953, and they had two daughters, Brenda Lee and
Jana Dee. He was always proud of working in the oil field for many years to make a
living. Wally moved his family to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1960 to attend Central State
College (CSC) now UCO. He worked several jobs during that time to support his family.
He graduated with a teaching degree, and they moved to the Navajo Reservation where
he taught junior high school. In 1966, he completed his master's degree in counseling
from CSC, and they moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a counselor at Chickasha
High School for one year. Then he became the Director of the Community Action
Program. Wally's efforts in this position assisted many underprivileged communities and
making a difference in their lives. After that, he was a counseling trainer for Area
Manpower Institute for the Development of Staff (AMIDS). He traveled all over the
United States and to Japan, mostly to military basis, conducting weeklong training
sessions for military counselors. In 1973, he became the Personnel Training Director
for Allied Foods. He and Betty divorced in 1974.
In 1976, Wally was promoted by Allied Foods to the corporate office in Detroit,
Michigan. He would tease that it was difficult to say that he received a promotion and
had to move to Detroit. He married Sharron Storm in May 1976. After Detroit, Sharron,
Wally and Julie (Sharron's daughter) moved to Wilmot Flat, New Hampshire.
He worked as a Personnel Director for Sanel Auto Parts Company. He went to work for
Santa Fe Drilling in Houston, Texas as a Personnel Director in 1982. In 1984, during
the massive layoffs of the oil companies, Wally and Sharron moved to Richmond,
Virginia. He went to work for the University of Marilyn in College Park, Maryland as a
Personnel Training Manager for the physical plant managing over 900 employees. He
retired after 15 years. Wally and a group of physical plant managers from all over the
nation wrote a program named "Toolkit" for the American Physical Plant Association
(APPA). He traveled to colleges and universities in the United State and Canada
teaching physical plant employees how to be competent managers. Wally was
extremely proud of Toolkit and its effectiveness. During the 10 years of teaching Toolkit,
he also taught at the APPA institute every year. Once a teacher, always a teacher.
While in Virginia, Wally and Sharron were active members of St. Mark's Methodist
Church. Sharron passed away in 2014.
Wally wanted to return "home" to Oklahoma. He asked Jana to move from Las Vegas,
Nevada to live with him. So, they came from opposite sides of the country to live in
Edmond, Oklahoma in 2016. It was a blessing for both of them to be able to spend that
time together.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Inez; his half-brother, Bill
Delmar; his daughter, Brenda Lee Glasscock, and his beloved wife, Sharron.
Those who will always remember Wally with love and affection are his daughter, Jana
Dee Smart; his sister and brother-in-law, Gale and LaRue Davidson; his stepdaughter
and son-in-law, Julie and Tom Feagins; his best friend of over 60 years, Dennis Martin,
many nieces, nephews and friends. Wally was a loving and caring dad, husband, friend
and mentor. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by all those who loved him.
Per Wally's wishes, there will be a family graveside service at a later date. He will be
buried next to Sharron in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
