Wallace Cecil Lanning, age 76, of
Westminster, South Carolina, passed away on August 6th, 2025, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Brenda Ruth Cobb Lanning, and a man remembered for his quiet strength, steady faith, and deep love for his family.
Born on March 30th, 1949, in Hayesville, North Carolina he was the son of the late Howard Elsberth and Dorothy Mae Hyde Lanning. Wallace was a retired business owner of Wylder Furniture and the owner and operator of Gray Court Farms. He had a great passion since a young age, for raising game chickens and enjoyed drag racing. He was associated with Welcome Baptist Church.
Wallace's legacy is carried on by his children: Thomas Lanning of Walhalla, Bradley Batson (Emily) of Greenville, Carrie Lanning White (Keith) of Westminster, and Harriett Lanning Thomas; his cherished grandchildren: Dustin Brian White, Daniel Wallace White, Dalton Keith White, John Austin Lanning, Katie Hall, Tommy Batson, Cody Thomas, and Casey Thomas; and two great grandchildren, John Wallace White and Evelyn Janie White.
He is also survived by his siblings: William Walter Lanning (Sandra) of Westminster, Howard Tracy Lanning (Tammy) of Westminster, and Peggy Ann Dermer (Mark) of Anderson.
In addition to his wife and parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Odell Lanning and Benny Eugene Lanning; and a son-in law, Danny Thomas.
A man of quiet conviction and generous spirit, Wallace lived by example. He showed his family and friends what it meant to work hard, love deeply, and walk humbly with God. Whether offering words of wisdom, sharing a smile, or lending a helping hand, he made a difference in the lives of those around him.
Per Wallace's wishes no service will be held at this time. However, the family would invite friends and family to stop by Wallace's home on Friday, August 8th, 2025 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, to share stories and spend time with the family.
