Wallace Lee Middlebrooks was born on October 3, 1927 in Henry County, Alabama. She was one of eleven children born to the late Gertrude Flucker and Walter C. Flucker, Sr. She was loved by all that came in contact with her. Such a genuine and caring individual with an amazing laugh. In her life, she worked at Our Father's Table Soup Kitchen in Gifford, FL since its opening, helping to feed all that were in need. Wallace was a lifelong member of New Bethel AME Church in Gifford, FL. She loved to visit her family and friends that were in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
On March 1, 2022, Wallace answered the call of the Almighty God bidding her to come home and rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude Flucker and Walter C. Flucker; son, Claude Hatten, Jr; siblings, Gussie Jones, Lizzie Mae Flucker, Hattie Lue Burnett, Mattie Pearl Byrd, Tom Espy Flucker, Gertrue Grimsley, Walter C. Flucker, Jr., Mary Ella Porter, Jane Anna Cody, James C. Flucker special life friend, Cardinal P. Simmons.
Left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Patrice L. Hatten-Olmeda, George Jones, Onuche Oyibo, Anthony Oyibo, Peter Oyibo, Claude Hatten III; great granddaughter, Aryanna Flores; grandson-in-law, Juan Flores; special life friends, Bernice Simmons and Patricia Leroy; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family members, and sorrowing friends all residing Miami, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, FL, and Shorterville, AL.
Public visitation for Wallace Middlebrooks will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. Graveside services will convene on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Gifford Cemetery in Gifford, FL beginning at 10:00am.
Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID-19 have been relaxed, we at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. We ask that you respect this, as it could very well save your life. We also ask that you acknowledge and execute the 6 feet social distancing guidelines as well.
