Walter Lee Bailey departed this life at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 71. He was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Walter was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, and he attended Delgado Community College. Walter was employed as a First Class Welder. Loving father of Felica Bailey, Chalsey Nelson, Janae Harris, Walter Nelson, David and Daniel Bailey. Son of the late Walter Frazier and Leola Bailey. Devoted brother of Vincent and Frank Bailey, Marcella Williams, Mary Phillips, Kim, Ida, and Linda Bailey, and the late Ora, Hattie, and Diane Bailey, Sandra Jones, and Geraldine Byrd. Walter is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second Zion Baptist Church, 6520 Second Zion Avenue, Marrero, LA on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Bishop James Nelson Brown, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
