Walter Lowell Bennington, 86 of Deer Creek passed away at his residence at 4:01 am Sunday January 26,2025. He was born December 2,1938 in Boone County, IN to the late Howard Knox and Bessie Alverda Toney Bennington. He was a 1957 graduate of Pinell High School in Boone County.
Walter served as a rifleman with the United States Marine Corps from August 14,1959 to August 13,1963 where he received a good conduct medal, the Vietnam Campaign ribbon, rifle marksman badge and pistol expert badge.. Walter was a farmer after leaving service for a period and then went to work as a carpenter for most of his adult life.
Walter is survived by his daughters Brenda (Gene) Pitrowski of Peru, IN, Carol Reef of Camden, Lisa Kissinger of Kokomo, a son Randy Bennington of Deer Creek, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Howard Wayne (Jean) Bennington of Lebanon and Norman Bennington of Jasonville, IN ; three sisters Janet (Stan) Gilman of Burlington, Mary (Larry) Sloan of Lebanon, and Connie Bennington of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Rick Reef and a grandson Jordan Britton.
Private family visitation held at Cree Funeral Home Camden, IN. A celebration of life for friends and family is being planned for a later date.
