WALTER J. BESHEARS

BLAIRSVILLE, INDIANA

Walter Joe "Walt" Beshears, 85, of Blairsville, Indiana joined our heavenly father on January 18, 2025.

Walter was born on March 22, 1940, to the late Jannie Marie (Messamore) and James Otha Beshears of Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Walter, better known as Cricket or Pop by those who knew and loved him, was a loving husband and amazing family man. After graduating from North High school in 1958, he proudly served our country by enlisting in the Navy and embarking on USS Herbert J. Thomas. During this time, he was able to watch them raise the flag that declared Alaska as a state.

Pop continued his career at Hahn Incorporated until closure then he transitioned to Faultless Caster. He proceeded to dedicate more than 30 years there before he retired as plant superintendent. Upon retirement, Pop could be found enjoying the sunshine and drinking coffee. Once the Indiana weather cooperated, Pop would be found outside doing all sorts of busy work from fixing whatever was broken to mowing acres of land!

Pop married the love of his life Marguerite Pearl (Foster), Mimi, on November 22, 1962. Their love story is one for the books. They are the true image of the love people aspire to have. Their love started in their teenage years and only grew stronger from there. The only thing that could come close to Pops love for Mimi is the love that Pop had for his kids and grandkids. Pop and Mimi were blessed with 63 beautiful years of marriage, a lifetime of memories, and endless happiness.

He was a staple in the community. He was a proud member of the Poseyville Masonic Lodge since 1978. He was an active church goer attending The Turning Pointe where he practiced his faith and praised our Heavenly Father.

Walter will be missed by all who knew him. We rejoice knowing we will see him again, but mourn the loss of a wonderful father, husband, and grandpa. Walter is survived by wife: Marguerite Pearl; sons: Scott (Jenny) Beshears and Kevin (Amy) Beshears; grandkids: Hannah (Riley) Beshears-Smith, Jacob Beshears, Jordyn (Zane) Kisner, Kaleb Beshears; brother: Glen Beshears; along with his first great-grandchild coming in June.

He is preceded in death by parents: James and Jannie Beshears; siblings: Diane, Michael, John, and James; and a son: Brian Beshears.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana with burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery near Wadesville, Indiana.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the funeral home with a Masonic service starting at 7 p.m.

Until we meet again, we all love you Pop!

Hey Uncle Cricket, I love you so much. It was good to see you and Aunt Pearl last year at Mark and Roberta's. The other thing that excites me more, is that I'll get to be with you in heaven along with my mom and dad. I'll continue to pray for your family. They'll miss you but will be excited to see you when they get to be with you in God's time. Love always, your niece, Deborah Lynn
Oh yes, and I remember when you and Pearl started dating. She would be babysitting for us and you would come over and visit. The two of you would sit together on the couch. And then Mark, Connie, and me, would run through the living room acting like we were kissing and smooching and hugging each other. That used to make Pearl so mad. It was fun. Okay, blessings to all of my family through Cricket and Pearl.
