Mr. Walter Leon "Bo" Boyt, 92 of Yatesville, GA, passed away at his residence on November 23, 2024.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Yatesville Baptist Church. Rev. David Shriver and Rev. John Wesley Long will officiate, and burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Yatesville. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyt was born on May 20, 1932, in Upson County to the late James A. Boyt and the late Mattie Boyt Corley. He worked for the WIlliam Carter Company for over 40 years. "Bo" loved his small town of Yatesville and served on the City Council and as mayor for over 30 years. He was instrumental in establishing the Yatesville Fire Department, Yatesville Senior Citizens Club, Yatesville Lions Club, and Yatesville Library. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, past president of the Rotary Club in Barnesville, Pinta Lodge 88, Al Shirah Shriners in Macon, Khirah Shriners in Thomaston, American Legion Post 81, Yatesville Lions Club, Hall of Fame 18E Lions, Moose Lodge 2424, and past president of Georgia Rural Library. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Services and a member of Yatesville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyt was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Sybil Tidwell Boyt; brothers: Albert, Horace, Marion, Harris, and Frank; sisters: Martha Dean, Lilly Hammock, and Doris Gray; and a great granddaughter, Brooklyn Griffith. He is survived by four daughters: Deborah (Kenny) Griffith of Acworth, GA; Denice (Johnny) Long, Denita (Jerry) Hall, and Dena (Steve) Mason, all of Yatesville, GA; 26 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren who adored PawPaw Bo.
