Walter Brady Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Oct. 1, 2025.
Elder Walter T. Brady was born on July 10, 1944, to Henry and Edna Brady in Jackson, Tennessee. He grew up in the close community of Fites Bottom and took pride in being the great-grandson of Chicken George from Roots. As the youngest of fifteen siblings, his family lovingly called him BooBoo. Walter enjoyed cooking, being with his loved ones, and riding motorcycles. After graduating from Merry High School, he joined the United States Army. After serving in the Army, Walter spent time in Tacoma, Washington, before making his home in St. Louis, Missouri, where his daughter, Veronica, was born. He worked at McDonnell Douglas, which later became Boeing, until he retired. Walter then continued working with several Department of Defense agencies and was known for being an outstanding employee. He started attending church with his niece, Bobbie Jean Austin, under the leadership of Pastor John Hardy Greer. Later, he accepted Christ at Pegues Outreach Ministry and served as assistant pastor with his wife, Apostle Jannie E. Brady, in East St. Louis, Illinois. In September 1988, he married Apostle Jannie E. Brady, and together they raised eight children, each of whom he loved as his own. Walter's kindness extended beyond his family, as he welcomed many children into his life and treated them like family. He leaves to cherish his devoted wife of 37 years, children Veronica Brady of Puyallup, WA., Nedra Daughtery (Kenneth) of Florissant Mo., Katrina Lowery (Sanchez) of Lake St Louis Mo., Valencia Henley (John) of Kathleen GA., Nicole Howard of Atlanta GA., Antoinette Singleton of Macon, GA., George Pegues (Nakia) of Elgin SC., Lloyd Pegues (Trudy) of San Antoinio TX., Marlon Pegues of Atlanta GA., and Alicia Tucker (Jwan) of Sierra Vista, AZ. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends dear to his heart. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Walter, please visit our floral store.
