Walter Brooks Obituary
Walter "Wally" H. Brooks Jr., age 49, of Durand, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024. A funeral service will take place 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Yerian Cemetery, Lennon. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday and again from 10:00 AM until the time of service Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Carmen.
Wally was born on September 21, 1975 in Owosso, Michigan the son of Walter Sr. and Cathy (Grifka) Brooks. He graduated from Durand High School. Wally worked for Davis Company as an operations manager and worked as the captain for the Vernon Township Fire Department. He and Carmen Downer were united in marriage on January 30, 2010. In his free time, Wally enjoyed camping, farming and enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; children, Logan (Debbie) Brooks, Katelyn (Chelsea) Brooks, Jordynn Young and Tyler (Danielle) Fisher; granddaughters, Paisleigh Brooks and Skylar; parents, Walt and Cathy Brooks; sister, Deana (Mark) Brooks; in-laws, Steve and Sheri Hall; mother-in-law, Carla Downer; and several nieces and nephews.
