CWO-4 Walter Joseph Bruderer, Sr., USMC, 91, passed away on December 26, 2024. Walter was born in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Walter and Elsie Goetzinger Bruderer.
Walter served 34 years in the Marine Corps and retired as a CWO-4 Certified Internal Auditor in 1986. Walter served at numerous military bases, including Patuxent River, Montfort Point, Kaneoe Bay, Philadelphia Navy Yard, 29 Palms, Norfolk, Cherry Point, Camp Lejuene and retiring while at New River Air Station.
Walter married Dorothy May Steves in 1958 and they were married for 66 years. He is survived by Dorothy and their four children, Donna Bierly (Sherman), of Swansboro, NC Walter J. Bruderer, Jr., (Dianne) of Swansboro, NC, William Bruderer (Patty) of Gilbertsville, PA, and Robert Bruderer (Bridgett) of Woodstock, GA, 6 grandchildren (Shane Bierly, Ryan Bruderer, Shauna Bierly, Cheyanne Bierly, Macie Bruderer, one great grandchild, Lilliana Roberts), nieces and nephews. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary Teresa Bruderer and George Headly and one grandson, Jordan Roberts.
Burial service will be held on Thursday, January 2nd at 12:00pm at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
