William Waggoner Obituary

William Cecil Waggoner, a loving father, devoted granddad, and proud US marine, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the family he adored. He was 91. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Born January 16, 1934, to the late Edna and Walter Waggoner, he grew up with a deep sense of patriotism that led him to a distinguished career in the military. He proudly retired as a Captain in the US Marine Corps, where he exemplified duty, honor and courage.

After retiring from the US Marine Corps, he became an avid carpenter. If you asked him to help build something, he would in a heartbeat and with precisement . He also found immense joy in fishing, whether on the water or land.

His family will forever cherish his memories of his simple pleasures and love for a slice of Casa Mia Pizza and his favorite snack of marshmallows. He loved his sweets and was the sweetest father and granddad a family could hope for. He will forever be in our hearts and missed tremendously.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara T. Waggoner.

He leaves behind his daughters Tressa Ann Stallings and spouse James Stallings of Wake Forest, NC and Alissa Marie Kellum and spouse Tony Kellum of Jacksonville, NC, sons William C Waggoner Jr. and spouse Donna Waggoner of Jacksonville, NC and John L. Waggoner of Jacksonville, grandchildren Kristina Stallings, Mason Kellum and Shawna Waggoner.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
