Lamont Lee "Monte" Waggoner

Lamont Lee "Monte" Waggoner, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 82.

Monte was born on February 3, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona, to William Howard and Arlene (Stephenson) Waggoner. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1961 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1965.

On February 9, 1962, he married the love of his life, Betty McGiboney, in Midwest City. In 1972, they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, where they raised their three daughters: Monica, Melissa, and Meredith.

Monte had a wide range of interests, including photography, woodworking, and travel. He was a faithful member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in McLoud, Oklahoma, where he attended for over 53 years. After retiring from Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City in 1995, Monte enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was known for his quick wit, and sharp sense of humor, which brought a smile to those around him.

Monte is preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Howard Waggoner Jr., and his beloved daughter Melissa Bryce.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Waggoner; daughter Monica Schmidlkofer and her husband Frank of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; daughter Meredith Jones and her husband Gary of Roff, Oklahoma; grandchildren Lindsey, Emily, Wyatt, Ethan, and Aaron; and great-grandchildren Cordelia, Piper, Charlotte, Josalyn, Jill, Hendrix, Waylon, Silas, Baylor, Bryson, and Baylee. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in McLoud, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Harrah.
