Janet Marie Christy, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on September 17, 2025, at the age of 72, in Oklahoma City surrounded by family. She was born on March 28, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Dorothy Tro Miller and Gerald Wesley Miller. She grew up in Midwest City, where she later met the love of her life, Warren Edward Christy, in mid-high school when they were young teenagers. The two married in 1972 and shared over 50 years of love, laughter, and devotion together. A proud graduate of Midwest City High School, she went on to earn her degree of Medical Technologist from Central State University (now the University of Central Oklahoma).

Janet enjoyed more than 40 years as a medical technologist in microbiology, where her care in work, knowledge and precision made a lasting impact on countless lives. Colleagues remember her as a joy to work alongside, admired for her warmth, steady humor, and compassion. Her work in the micro-lab was brightened by the cherished friendships she made, a reminder that her career was as much about people as it was about science.

Always gardening, Mom delighted in filling the yard with more trees, flowers, and bushes than the space could reasonably hold. The joy she found loving life was deepened by sharing it with Warren, who was always nearby to lend a hand and helpfully debate the merits of each new planting. Their care for the garden reflected the deep bond they carried into every part of their life together.

Besides gardening, Warren and Janet shared many joys together, among them a long tradition of visiting just about every Mexican restaurant in town, turning simple meals into cherished memories.

Janet was a crafter - a truly creative soul who collected and shared her crafts with many loved ones. From the most beautifully designed and stitched quilts and afghans, to practical pot-holders, cross-stitch art, and needlepoint, her love was in each piece. A pastime lovingly passed down from her mother, Dorothy, that is also lovingly passed down to Janet's children and grandchildren.

Following Janet's retirement, her greatest joy came from spending time with her six beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Always young at heart, Janet's life was filled with long hugs, wild laughter, deep conversation, and ornery play. Mom was the most fun and warm person to be around. Finding humor in words and phrases tickled her to no end. Mom's joy would build quickly, erupting into a boisterous laugh that filled the room with love and excitement. She loved to share and recall movie quotes, silly banter, and revisit the experiences we created through the many vacations and trips as a family. Mom's ability to remember the most minor but vivid details, facts and feelings was remarkable.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Tro Miller (2000) and Gerald Wesley Miller (1959). She is survived by her husband, Warren Edward Christy of Edmond, OK, and her sisters, Diana Alexander and Debbie Irwin, her children, Mellisa Christy-Aronson and husband Zachary of Ada, OK; Justin Christy and wife Katie of Yukon, OK, and Traci Christy Hurt and husband Jason of Edmond, OK; and by her six cherished grandchildren, Nadia Christy-Aronson, Bella Christy, Tatum Christy, Andie Christy, Warren "Henry" Hurt, and Raleigh Hurt.

Her kindness, devotion to family, and quiet strength will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed - our sweet mother.
