I am so sorry to hear about Coach Carter's passing. I had the honor and great privilege of being one of his students as well as friend. Being a neighborhood kid, he yelled at me more then others in his class...HAHA At the time I did not like it but he would later tell me it was to make me stronger. It in fact did. I will forever cherish ALL of my memories with Walt. He will turly be missed.

These thoughts all tell the story of dad. He was loved more than I ever knew. I too will miss him forever but I know he is watching over us all now..

My sympathies go out to the Carter family and everyone who knew him well. I had the priviledge of playing basketball for him for two seasons that resulted in championship teams. Those seasons were made up of a great bunch of guys who worked well together because of Coach Carter. I had a number of wonderful coaches at WSHS and Coach Carter was certainly one of them. His great enthusiasm and sense of humor made us all look forward to being around him on a daily basis. We had many, many laughs during those seasons. Even though I thought of him many times after high school I am sorry I never got a chance to see him or speak to him. All of the guys who played for him will be saddened by his passing but we are all happy that we knew him. God Bless the Carter family.

My sympathies to the Carter Family and all of those who have known and loved Walt Carter over these many years. I worked with Walt at WSHS and enjoyed the time that we spent together. He had an amazing relationship with his students and players. Walt was strict with everyone but they all knew that he cared about them and that they would be better off if they did it THE CARTER WAY!. Of course they were better off, not just for that moment but for the rest of their life. Walt will be greatly missed!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
I've always remembered my 1st day in my 6th grade gym class, this scary man screaming at us (a bunch of scared brand new 6th graders at Fred Lynn MS)...there are 2 ways to do things...the wrong way AND THE CARTER WAY. I'd like to think I did things the Carter way :). Mr Carter was a great Educator! Go Hornets & Vikings!

I taught with Walt at Fred Lynn from 1964-191966 and remember him fondly not only as a colleague but as a friend. My sympathies go out to his family.

I will always remember Mr. Carter for his no nonsense attitude but ability to lighten things up when needed. I always enjoyed English with him especially as he would walk around the "room" reading from Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar"

There are few people that can leave such a big impression on others. It's been 25 years since I was in high school and I admit that I can't remember many of my teachers. However, Mr. Carter still vividly exists in my memory. His rich commanding voice, stern glare, and good hearted nature. Those of us who knew the man were lucky.

My condolences to the family. Mr. Carter was one of my favorite teachers during my attendance at Fred Lynn Middle School and Woodbridge High. I'm proud to be a Class of '84 alumni that knew Walt.

How very sad the passing of Walt Carter makes me and those of us who knew him as a wise, fair and kind colleague in the English Department at WSHS. His honesty and forthrightness influenced us then and they continue to do so in our lives. My deepest sympathies at your loss.

Dear Anita, Diane, and Family,
My sincerest condolences to you all. Walt was such a wonderful man. He was an inspiration in the classroom and a wonderful friend. Teaching with him at WSHS was an honor. His students respected him and learned so much from him. Stict, strict, strict! but his students LOVED him! If anyone got out of line, his favorite expression was, "Hit the bricks!" (leave the classroom!) The roughest kids in the school were sent to Walt because he could handle them and turn them around to become model students. EVERYONE respected Walt because he was fair, honest, and sincere. His wonderful sense of humor was contagious! Truly the heavens have opened up for Walt. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

My deepest sympathies to the Carter family. Mr. Carter was an inspiration to his students. He was straightforward and no-nonsense and yet willing to nurture anyone who needed his help. While I was never a gifted athlete, Mr. Carter used me as a stat man and scorekeeper on many of his teams, and always made me feel like I was a member. Woodbridge and the PW County School system will miss him greatly.
