Walter Chapin Obituary
He was born March 14, 1935, in Anderson, the son of Walter E. and Ada M. (Stohler) Chapin. Walter was a lifelong resident of Anderson; he graduated from Anderson High School in 1954 and retired from Delco-Remy in 1999 after 42 years and was a member of the UAW-CIO Local #662.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Chapin of Anderson; three sons, Walter E. Chapin, II, Max W. Chapin and fiancé Kathy Privett, Steven D. Chapin and finance Christina Boldman all of Anderson; five grandchildren, Amanda, Sabrina, Melissa, Anthony, Mitch and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Hannah Bybee and Sheila Auker both of Anderson; one brother, Chester and wife Betty Chapin of Tenn; two sisters-in-law, Judy Chapin and Linda Chapin both of Anderson; cousin, Bill Ragle, Jr. of Muncie and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Phyllis M. Chapin and Gail Dill; two brothers, Ronald Chapin and Raymond Chapin.
Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Don Whitlock officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Walk Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
