Walter Seal Clavier

Walter Clavier of Dover, Delaware, passed away on March 14 at the age of 91. Walter was born in Guthriesville, PA on May 15, 1933, the son of Minerva and Herbert Clavier.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, brothers John and Ira and sisters Marian Redlin and Anna Carl.
Walter is survived by his two sons, Walter Scott Clavier (Patti) and Mark H. Clavier (Jeanmarie) and a daughter, Karen L. Babcock (Leonard) along with five grandchildren, Kasey Babcock Frohnapfel, Kenneth Babcock, Kevin Clavier, Steven Clavier and Michael Clavier and three great grandsons, Hunter and Owen Frohnapfel and Mateo Babcock. Walter never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren, share a story, or offer some good-natured heckling.
Following high school, Walter started work as a lineman at Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania in 1952. In 1966, after holding several supervisory positions in Pennsylvania, he was transferred to Delaware to what is now Verizon. He became manager of phone installation, outside plan construction, repair and engineering. He retired in 1985.
He enjoyed traveling. Prior to retiring, he and his wife took extensive motorcycle trips which included 49 states and 9 Canadian provinces. After Walter retired, he and his wife purchased a tractor trailer and traveled in 48 states over a three year period. In 1988, his next venture was designing and receiving a U.S. Patent for a truck window screen. He successfully manufactured, packaged and marketed the screens for 13 years while traveling extensively in motor homes. He and Janet finally settled down, spending winters in Florida for several years.
Walter's life was defined by his adventurous spirit, dedication to his family, and unwavering curiosity. His sharp wit and playful teasing kept friends and family on their toes, and those who knew him best will fondly remember his knack for making people laugh. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
At Mr. Clavier's request there will be no services. Burial will be at Unionville, PA cemetery.
