Buck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1980, including a tour in Vietnam. On April 7, 1972, he married the love of his life, Kathy Fletcher. From 1982 to 2004, Buck and Kathy owned and operated Darden's Grocery & Station in Forney, a hub for the local community and a place where lifelong friendships were formed. In addition to running the store, Buck worked in the hay baling business for many years, known for his tireless work ethic and reliable spirit.

Buck will always be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and loyal friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathy Crow; son Daniel "Bubba" Crow and wife Tammy of Fate, TX; daughter Kelly and husband Dr. Teig Port of Heath, TX; grandchildren Preston "Coot" and Makenna "My Angel" Crow of Fate, TX, Kristian Port (stationed in Germany), Nicholas Port of Heath, TX, Amber Bean and family of Forney, TX, and Joseph Woodcock and family of Iowa.
