Walter Benjamin Curll Sr.

Walter Benjamin Curll, Sr. ("Ben") passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 1, 2023. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on February 18, 1929, he was the beloved son to the late Walter W. Curll and Elnora (nee Lare).
Upon graduation from the former A.D. Eisenhower High School in Norristown, Ben went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy onboard the USS Grand Canyon, AD-28. He was honorably discharged from the Navy, and married the love of his life, Beatrice (nee Kline), also known as "Dolly". Together they shared 41 years of marriage, raising their family prior to her passing in 1995. Ben was a devoted husband and cherished father to his five children: Nancy Curll, Walter B. Curll, Jr. (Maryanne), Debra Kontra (Thomas), Mark Curll (Melissa), and James Curll (Mary). He was a loving "Poppy" to seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren. Ben was the brother to the late Kenneth Curll (the late Eleanor) and to Robert (Elizabeth). He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ben was preceded in death by his second wife, Dolores.
Ben had a heart of gold and his life's work was filled with service to others. He was a member of Charity Lodge #190, and was a Mason for more than 70 years. Ben also was a Past Grand Tall Cedar of the former Norristown Forest #31, Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a member of the Norriton Fire Engine Company, where he served on the Fire Police for 15 years. Ben always found time to volunteer at his church, most recently at the former Asbury United Methodist Church in Norristown. He was retired from the former Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. In his free time, Ben was a model train enthusiast, and shared his love of trains with his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ben's Life Celebration on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm and again Tuesday, August 15 from 10 am to 10:45 am, Masonic Service 10:45 am, followed by a service at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, PA.
