Walter A. Honer Sr.

Walter A. Honer Sr., affectionately known as "Pops" and "Wally," age 85, of Timberlake, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. He was born August 3, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Walter and Mary (née Faragher) Honer.

Pops was a man of remarkable character and work ethic, famously operating his backhoe until age 84. Known to many as "the cudaman," he spent countless hours collecting and restoring Mopar cars. He loved traveling and never grew tired of watching sunsets at home in Timberlake. Some of his favorite adventures came later in life, including a trip to Europe, and checking the Grand Canyon off his bucket list in his 80s. He had a well-known sweet tooth and a deep love for his family, whom he considered his greatest achievement.

Pops is survived by his children, Wally Honer Jr. (Pat) and Kelli Honer; his grandchildren, Camielle (Alan) Penny, Desiree (Adam) Hlavin, Alexis (Russell) Porter, Morgan Honer, and Shannon Honer; and his sister, Carol Cowley.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Honer, and his sisters, Shirley and Jewel.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Walter's life on Sunday March 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Monreal Smick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation.
