Walter H. Kallin

Walter H. Kallin age 91 of Neenah passed away peacefully on Thursday June 12, 2025. Wally was born on March 16, 1934, in Adams County, the son of the late Frank and Olga (Mikkelson) Kallin. Wally graduated from Neenah High School in 1952. He married June Matsche on August 20, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Wally and his wife June raised five sons. Most of his working years were spent at the Neenah Fire Department where he ascended to the position of Assistant Chief. On multiple occasions he demonstrated his bravery by rescuing people from burning buildings, including two fellow firefighters. He also ran a successful part-time tree service and was the primary tree climber. He was always an avid hunter and a crack-shot deer hunter. While in his 50's & 60's, he participated in many Wisconsin triathlons, often placing in the top three for his age group.

Wally is survived by his five sons and their wives: Steve (Sue), Wayne (Sue), Keith (Sally), Glen (Michelle), Brian (Mary); grandchildren: Kevin (Corly) Kallin, Michelle (Marques) Jones, Laura Coates, Ryan Coates, Hannah Kallin, Melissa Kallin/Leininger, Dylan Kallin, Brittany Kallin, Jacob (Jasmin) Kallin, Joshua Kallin; great-grandchildren: Cole, Clay, Katy, Kara; Ryleigh, Deacon, Bronlyn; Tristan; Braedyn, Addelyn, Coltyn, Isabella; Ivy, Violet; Elliot, Charlotte. He is further survived by his sister Sandy Splitgabber. Wally was preceded in death by his wife June in 1993, and brother William in 2003.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church 900 Geiger St., Neenah with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue Honor Guard will conduct the Ringing of the Bell service at 11:15 a.m. followed by Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
