Walter Clyde Marr, 88, of Acton, MA, formerly of Weymouth North and New Tusket, Nova Scotia passed away on August 24, 2025 at Nashua Crossings, Nashua, NH.
Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivien Mary (Theriault) Marr who passed away in April 2023, after 65 years of marriage.
Born on January 2, 1937 at home in Havelock, Nova Scotia, he was the eldest son of the late Albert Sanford Marr and Garnetta Eleanor (Mullen) Marr, both of New Tusket, Nova Scotia.
In 1964 Walter, Vivien, and their 2 daughters, Shannon and Shelley, moved from Nova Scotia to West Concord, MA. Five years later, after their son Shaun was born, they bought a house in Acton, which has been the family home for 56 years.
Walter was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, at times working 3 jobs to support Vivien, the children, and his beloved granddaughter, Rhiannon. He worked for many years as a Foreman at E.A. Comeau in West Concord, MA. He also worked for the Town of Maynard Water Department for 25 years, from which he retired when he was 75 years old.
Walter cherished the relationship he and Vivien had with Rhiannon and John's children (their great grandchildren).
Walter is survived by his 3 children, Shannon (David) Wheeler of Groton, MA; Shelley Marr of Acton, MA; and Shaun (Heidi) Marr of Merrimack, NH. He is also survived by his granddaughter Rhiannon (John) Royal of Lowell, MA and 4 great grandchildren, Aubrey Vivien, Jack, Cody, and Rose.
He is also survived by his twin sisters Rosalie (John) Low and RoseMarie (Brian) Logan, of Courtice and Ajax, Ontario, respectively, Debbie Marr of Kingston, Nova Scotia, and by his brother Michael (Claudette) of New Tusket, Nova Scotia.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his sister Marina and his brothers Alvin and Wade.
Visiting hours Tuesday, September 2, from 4pm-6pm at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, MA.
Funeral service is Wednesday, September 3, 11am at Acton Funeral Home, with graveside services to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
