Walter Martin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center on Mar. 4, 2026.
Walter "Wally" Albert Martin went to his heavenly home peacefully with his daughter, Lorri, son-in-law, Larry, and his granddaughter, Michelle, by his side on February 19, 2026. His faith was strong and he loved his Lord.

He was the son of Benjamin & Pauline (Krueger) Martin, born on July 24, 1930, in the Town of Johnson, Wisconsin. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Wally served during the Korean conflict and was sent to Korea. He married the love of his life, Jeanette (Lehman) Martin on June 1,1957, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Jeanette suffered from Alzheimer's later in life. She passed away on January 20, 2025.

Always active, Wally and Jeanette enjoyed square dancing, volunteering at the food bank, and hiking. They even hiked the Grand Canyon. Wally and Jeanette also enjoyed watching baseball games. Along with Lorri and Larry they attended around six Arizona Diamondbacks' games a year. Twice Wally was highlighted on the big screen during the Veterans' recognition inning. Wally and Jeanette were also once featured on Kiss Kam. What an adorable couple they were!

Wally's favorite activity was going to the Sun Village Wood Shop. He made beautifully crafted wood pieces. His work included bowls, vases, cutting boards, and crosses for churches and church camps. His skills were such that family members could show him a simple picture and he could make the item.

He is survived by a son, Bryan (Milwaukee, WI), a daughter, Lorri (Larry) Mohrweis (Surprise, AZ), six grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, Aaron, Elizabeth, Kevin, and Michelle. He also had two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Riley. He is also survived by his brother, Ed (Ellie) Martin, his sister, Hilda, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and in-laws, Dan (Hildegard & Emmy), Louie (Ablina & Alma), Ewald (Irene & Helen), Rudy (Fredia & Elisa), Mike (Edith), John (Paula & Virginia), and four sisters and in-laws, Rosalia (Hank) Rodman, Lydia (Ralph) Schneeveis, Olga (Dallas) Powers and Erna (Floyd & Wilbert) Wilde.

A memorial service will be held on March 17, 2026 at the Crown of Life Lutheran Church (13131 W. Spanish Garden, Sun City West, AZ 85375). The service will be at 10:00 am. Guests, if they wish, are invited to attend an internment that will follow. A luncheon will be provided to all at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. A basket for cards will also be at the church. The family wishes to express its grateful thanks to the staff at Orchard Pointe for their help and for showering Wally with their tender loving care.
