Walter M. Nittsche "Pappy",103, passed away on July 13, 2025, in Malakoff, Texas. He was welcomed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, reunited again with his wife Margaret "Nanny" he so dearly loved. Walter was born on April 6, 1922, in Fedor, Texas. He attended school in the Fedor-Lincoln area. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army and went to CCC for six months in Yuma, AZ. He fought in WWII in Leyte, Luzon, Philippines and Okinawa with the 1stRadio Squadron attached to the 5th Air Force. He was an intercept operator. After his discharge from the service, he began farming in Burleson County before going to work in 1950 for the MKT Railroad in Houston, TX as a telegraph operator. Later that year he went on to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegraph operator where he retired in 1985. In 1944, Walter married Margaret Boehmer the love of his life in Dime Box, Texas. The two shared the same birthday. In 1948, they welcomed their daughter Martha Ann. Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Margaret Anna Nittsche, his parents Ernst and Anna (Mattiza) Nittsche and several sisters and brothers. Walter is survived by his daughter, Martha Ann, and husband, Burl, of Trinidad, TX. Grandson Trey and wife Brandi of Midlothian, TX, and Great Granddaughter Lexi Hintze. He also leaves behind numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services for Walter are scheduled at St. John's Lutheran Church 2609 FM 60 Deanville, Tx: Visitation: August 9, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm Funeral Service: August 9, 2025 12:00p to 12:45pm Burial at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery immediately following services. Pallbearers are Trey Hintze, Mike Wisnoski, Mike Lancaster, Hugh Barnett, Milton Catalina and Aleks Weixel In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St John's Lutheran Church 2609 FM 60, Deanville, TX77852, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank you all for your prayers and support.
