Walter B. Reading, 74, of Arizona, passed away very peacefully on July 4, 2024, at his happy place in Shunk, Pa. Walter Bernard was born June 30, 1950, in Abington, Pa., a son of the late F. Linwood and Henryka (Stryjewski) Reading. In 1973 Walt proudly joined the United States Army where he earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during his 27 years of service, retiring in 1998. He was a true patriot to his country, even during his passing on the Fourth of July. Walt married the former Patricia Forconi in Silver Spring, Maryland. Together they traveled the world, with Australia being his favorite tour during his commission and raised two children. Walt was employed by MITRE for 19 years until his retirement in 2019, subsequently becoming an independent contractor. He was a member of the Park City Community Church in Utah and Desert Mission United Methodist Church in Arizona as well as the Masons for over 50 years.
Walt enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always his grandkid's biggest supporter, and he loved them endlessly. Walt and Pat enjoyed traveling and visiting with their friends along the way. He was a very well-respected man who touched so many lives on so many levels throughout his life.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for all the kind words and support that is helping them through this time.
Walt leaves behind his wife Patricia at home, daughter; Nicole (Ben) Adams, son; Jonathan (Candice) Reading and grandchildren; Kileigh, Aiden, Elizabeth, Madeline, Jordan, Kennady and Laella, brother; Joseph Reading and Sister; Stephanie McCurry and several nieces and nephews

Walt was a great person to work with and a friend. He had a great sense of humor and was a great supporter of me and my colleagues. I really miss seeing him. He will be missed by a lot of people!

Walt was a great person, I knew him as a friend and a coworker. His wisdom was essential in most things I did professionally and on many things personally. We are all in better place because Walt walked this Earth. I'm sorry that he is gone but happy that I knew him and spent a lot of time with him over the last 20 years.
