Walter Savio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heartland Cremation & Burial Society - Greater Kansas City, Missouri - Rayt on Sep. 22, 2025.
Walter L. "Bo" Savio, Jr., age 79, passed away on September 3, 2025. Born on March 24, 1946, in Jefferson City, Missouri, Bo was the son of Walter and Maryn Savio. He graduated from Raytown High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Bo proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

On September 25, 1971, Bo married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Haglund. He dedicated 55 years to the banking industry, with the last 20 years spent at Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co. Bo was a long-time member of Raytown Christian Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and later as an elder.

Bo was a passionate sports fan, cheering on the Royals, Chiefs, and Mizzou Tigers. He was an avid reader, often juggling multiple books at once. Known for his sweet tooth, Bo had a particular fondness for "crappy candy" like circus peanuts and orange slices. He loved Mexican food and cherished meals shared with family. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren thrive in their activities.

Bo was a devoted son, husband, father, grandpa, uncle, mentor, and friend. He was hard working, witty, engaging, and a man of deep faith. His presence will be missed by many.

He is survived by his beloved dog, Buck, and his four children: Sarah (Brent) Basore, Stephanie (Bryce) Griffith, Jon (Erica) Savio, and Rebecca (Ryan) Butler; as well as three grandchildren: Bodan Griffith, Giovanna Savio, and Evangeline Savio.

Bo was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and his parents.

A service to honor Bo's life will be held on September 26, 2025, at Raytown Christian Church (6108 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO). Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, with funeral services immediately following at 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to organizations close to Bo's heart:

Kansas City Pet Project, where he adopted his best friend, Buck.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, whose mission he deeply admired.
