Walter was a hard worker and was known most for his equipment operating skills. He was always sure to let everyone know that he was, "the best operator of all time". When he wasn't working, Walter loved to have a good time, spend time with his family and friends and barbecue. One of his greatest passions was fishing and going to the horse races. Walter was a devoted companion and a loving brother and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Lisa Griffin; step-sons, Jacoby Griifin (Kylie) and Gerard Marcell; step-daughter, Latoya Griffin; sisters, Theresa Broussard and Estella Henry; sister-in-law, Lorraine Lewis; and godchildren, Genia Lewis and Stormy Harris.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lewis and Locadie Batiste Lewis; brothers, Haywood Lewis (Gloria), Ivy Lewis (Dorothy), Wildon Lewis, Irvin Lewis (Dorothy) and Joseph Lewis; and sisters, Madelin Helaire (Lumas), Clement Lewis (Kirby) and Wilda Davis (Arthur).
