Walter Lee Walker
Walter Lee Walker, 65, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.
Walter was from Jacksonville, Florida but had lived most of his adult life in San Mateo, Florida. He worked in the family steel fabrication business, Apex Metals in Palatka, and was sole owner the past 3 years, after his father's death.
Walter was a graduate of Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach. He had an enormous passion for steel fabrication and was an essential part of starting the family business in 1982 and growing it into a very successful and reputable company.
Those who knew Walter knew there was no one else who could tell a better bar story, fishing story or a why I'm so late getting home story. He loved the Florida Keys, scalloping in the Gulf, and his family. Walter was fortunate to have known and fished many places in Florida, and to have ventured out of Florida to fishing spots in Alaska and Hawaii.
Walter is preceded in death by his father, Donald Walker, and his younger brother Keven Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Siebenaler, mother, Helen Walker, sisters, Susan Daniel (brother-in-law, Bill), and Brenda Johnson, as well as loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind special long-time friends, Doug Bowden, Rick Bruce, and Ron Aycock.
We thank the hospice in home care for their compassion and their help in caring for him. We love you Walt and will miss you greatly.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Pastor Don Aycock officiating.
Memorial gifts are requested to S.A.F.E Animal Rescue of Northeast Florida and may be made online at https://www.safe-pet-rescue-fl.com/donatenow.html or by mail at P.O. Box 840215, St. Augustine, FL 32080.

Walt and I shared our young life, with him being a very close friend. Lake Tresca animal hospital, Jacksonville Veterans Coliseum and other places, allowed me to share some of the most memories. Walter was so humorous that every day was filled with laughter. I ended up moving to Tyler, Texas back in 1977 and lost connection with Walt. I tried so many times to find him and reunite. It was very sad to find out that Walt, had passed. I loved him to the extreme. Walter had so many friends. Dan, Kevin, Helen, Chip and so many more. If anyone would call me and share stories about Walter, it would be a pleasure. Mark Roddy 403-288-9984. May Walt rest in peace.
