On Tuesday, October 31st, Paul was reunited with the love of his life of 57 years in their heavenly home.
Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys Baker Walker and his mother and father; Edgar and Eugenia Grant Walker. He is also preceded by all six of his brothers and sisters: Hazel Bevis, Katherine Meachum, Ruth Campbell, Jim Walker, Joe Neal Walker, and Edwin Walker.
Paul was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was committed to his community and served it well by serving in the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years. During those years he served as Assistant Fire Chief and Mutual Aid Chief. He worked through the Department on fundraisers - gathering donations to help those in need. Anyone who knew him knows he would have given the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
Paul was born in McMinn Co. and was raised in Calhoun. He spent a great deal of time in Riceville, TN on his Aunt Claude and Uncle Bill Bacon's farm, where he loved to go and help out. He always said, "I am a Jack of all trades, but a master of none." He never had a formal education as all of his siblings had, but if any were in need of a plumber, mechanic, for a lawn mower, or someone to work on appliances, Paul was the person would call - he was "Mr. Fix-it."
Paul never met a stranger and is believed to have known everyone. If he did not know you, after meeting him, he would have considered you a friend. Paul was of the Baptist faith and was a member at the Old Friendship Baptist Church in Delano. He also attended Calhoun First Baptist Church and for certain occasions, his parent's family church - Spring Creek Methodist Church in the Calhoun/Riceville Area.
Left to cherish Paul's memory are his son Darryl Walker and daughter, Tina and Mark Bowling. His only two grandchildren, grandson Emory G. Bowling and granddaughter Claudia P. Bowling; sister-in-laws Elizabeth Walker and Ruth Baker Clabough; brother-in-law Clifford Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Companion Funeral Home's Cleveland Chapel, with a memorial service following. A graveside service will follow at Calhoun First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Walker family with these arrangements. You are encouraged to share a memory or your condolences with the family at Paul's online memorial at www.companionfunerals.com.
