Wanda Louise Brunkhorst, 80, of Sparta, IL; born on October 20, 1944 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Shelton and Alberta (née, Davis) Carlyle; passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.
Wanda worked at Gilster Mary Lee and as a waitress in DuQuoin, IL for many years. She worked hard to provide for her family. Wanda loved her pet dogs Maggie, Ginger, and Evie. She was also a huge fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed listening to his music repeatedly.
She is survived by four children – Lawana (husband, Ron Sawyer) Tedder of Benton, IL, Lora (husband, Charlie) Tripp of Benton, IL, Shannon (wife, Lorraine) Brunkhorst of Mulberry, FL, and Curtis Brunkhorst of Centralia, IL; eight grandchildren – Kandace (husband, Ronnie) Rees, Krystle Hagston, Ashley (husband, Josh) Wolfe, Ryan Scott, Amanda (husband, Denis) Ximenes, Nicholas Brunkhorst, Jacob Brunkhorst, and Sophia Brunkhorst; one sister – Mary Poole; two brothers – John Carlyle and Richard Carlyle; beloved dog – Evie; family friend – Richard Scott.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son – Arthur Brunkhorst, Jr.; three brothers – Albert Carlyle, Robert Carlyle, and Wesley Carlyle; three sisters – Juanita Speece, Judy Stanko, and Betty Appel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Sparta, IL on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Adam Losekamp officiating. Committal Services will take place at Tilden Cemetery. Wanda's favorite color was purple, and the family has asked that people wear whatever purple they have to celebrate her life.
