Wanda Kay Burckhalter Shealy, age 73, entered into rest on Monday August 4, Burckhalter at her home surrounded by her family.
She is the daughter of the late James M. Burckhalter and the late Eva Widener Stone Burckhalter.
She is also preceded in death by the love of her life for 50 years, her husband, Alvin Shealy; sisters, Barbara Ann Stone Johnson, Ruby Stone Borst and special niece Melinda Borst.
She is survived by her sons, Brad (Lynn) Shealy, Matthew (JoyAnne) Shealy; grandchildren, Zachary (Madi) Shealy, Braden Shealy, Khloe Hunsinger; great granddaughter, Mavery Kay Shealy; brother, Rick (Jo) Burckhalter; special fur baby, "Benji"; and special nieces, Cheryl Johnson, Michele Nielsen and many more nieces and nephews.
Her careers included the receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. H.G. Royal, Jr. and Insurance Clerk with Graniteville Company. Her green thumb was on display in her beautiful yard that many admired. Also, she and her husband Alvin had a very productive vegetable garden, from which many meals were prepared including the yearly Thanksgiving meal at their home. She was a loving and kind daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Everyone loved her dearly.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Saturday August 9, 2025 at 11am in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Cartin officiating. The interment will follow at the Warrenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening August 8, 2025 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Zachary Shealy, Braden Shealy, Ricky Burckhalter, Jason Shealy, Lish Boyd, Jr. and Calvin Shealy.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice of Aiken for their care of Mrs. Shealy during her time of illness.
