Wanda Lynn Whittington, long time resident of Kermit, TX passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 83, in San Antonio, TX.
Today we celebrate the life of a strong woman, a pillar of strength in the lives of everyone she knew. Unapologetically herself, she lived life on her own terms. Though strong-willed and stubborn, her love for her family knew no bounds, as she showed each of them, she cared in her own unique way, often through a warm meal or unsolicited advice given with love and a genuine desire to see her loved ones thrive.
Wanda had a creative eye and an artistic spirit, she enjoyed painting and creating beautiful artwork that many will enjoy for years to come. She also had a love for the Texas Hill Country and the beautiful blue bonnets and sunflowers that lined the Texas Highways that she traveled most of her life.
As we remember her laughter and her wisdom, we also acknowledge the profound losses she endured. She faced the unimaginable pain of burying her children and grandchildren, trials that tested her strength and resilience. Yet, even in the face of such sorrow, her love for her family remained.
Wanda's passing leaves a gaping hole in the lives of her loved ones, who will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Charlie and Mildred Mae Jones; daughters Janice Turney and Kassie Whittington; son Cliff Whittington; sister Patsy Stack; brother Kenneth Jones; and grandchildren Jason Whittington and Frankie Franco. Her husband, Jack Whittington, whom she was married to for 30 years, also preceded her in death. May cherished memories of Wanda bring comfort to those who loved her.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Patricia Birkla and husband Shane of Bulverde, TX, and Jacque Caudle and husband Carl of Conroe, TX. In addition to her children, Wanda's legacy continues through her two sisters, Brenda Ainsworth and Cindie Preston, as well as her ten beloved grandchildren Kristi, Stephanie, Corey, Danial, Alanna, Cody, Ashley, Kiara, and Jonathan. As well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews that will miss her deeply.
