Wanda Jean Works, 88, of Independence, was called home to the Lord on December 27, 2023. Born on February 16, 1935 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of Noley and Viola [Shaw] Goldsberry.
A homemaker, mom and grandma, Wanda's family reminisced that she was strong like nails and extremely outgoing. She was wonderful and possessed an infectious giggle. Wanda cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Despite her large family, Wanda always made time for everyone. A current member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Wanda's deep Christian faith guided all that she did.
We find comfort & peace knowing this woman fought the good fight; she has finished the race and kept the faith. Those left behind to carry on Wanda's love and light are her children Tonya (Phil) LeConte, Carol Main, Tim (Amy) McClure, Don (Donna) McClure, and Rod (Rebecca) McClure as well as her siblings Lowell Goldsberry, Broadus Goldsberry, Rick Goldsberry, and Linda Bishop. Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren, friends and church family. Wanda was preceded in death by her loves Don McClure and Charles "Charlie" Works; her siblings Joan Craft, Doris Perry, and Norman Goldsberry and her parents.
A visitation will be held at Chambers and Grubbs, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051 on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Calling hours will be from 5:00 PM until shortly before the time of the funeral service, (also to be held at the funeral home) at 7:00 PM. Following services Wanda will be cremated and will rest at home with her family. The loss of Wanda comes as very sudden and unforeseen. Instead of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made directly to the family via this link to assist with final expenses. You may also make a contribution to the family by phoning the funeral home at 859-344-5000.
