Ward James Riley, 79 of Celebration, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025. He was born in New York City, New York, the son of William and Marguerite Riley though faced with the hurdles brought by their blindness overcame those challenges with the aid of their son Ward. Ward grew up in the South Bronx, then moved to Hillsdale, New Jersey and from there he moved to Celebration, Florida nine years ago. Ward rose up from poverty to be educated and received his bachelor's degree from Pace College and his master's degree from Hunter College. He was the President of the Debate Society and was Vice President of the young Democrats. Ward was a proud retired Vice President of C.W.A Union, Local # 1023 in Cranford, New Jersey. Ward was an accomplished and published playwright, novelist, actor and director. He loved the arts. He often quoted from the Godfather movie. Ward was also a believer in Astrology making and interpreting charts.

Ward is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 32 years Karen Riley of Celebration, Florida; his sons: Liam Riley of Fishkill, New York and Redmond Riley of Fishkill, New York; his daughter: Katherine Rose Riley and her husband Logan of Kissimmee, Florida; his sister: Dolleen Keohane and her husband John of Celebration, Florida and seven adoring grandchildren and his loyal dog, Molly. Ward was preceded in death by his parents William and Marguerite Riley and his brother, Michael. Ward loved his family more than anything else, and was always happy and kept smiling till the end.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 10:00 A.M in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel at Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home with Chaplain Tim Nordstrom officiating.
