Warren Ellsworth Brockett, of Gettysburg, passed away at Kline House peacefully from acute myeloid leukemia on June 12, 2024, with his family nearby. He was born in Ohio on October 30, 1937.
He met his wife of 65 years, Dorothy on a blind date to the University of Maryland Chapel. Warren served in the Army Reserves, earned his master's degree (+30), and was a Prince George County elementary school teacher. During retirement, he spent several years exploring the country in the RV with Dorothy. They later settled in Gettysburg, PA, where they became heavily involved with their Living Hope Church community and working at the battlefield. Warren was an avid bird watcher, fly fisherman and amateur radio enthusiast. He was known for his dry humor and never-ending love of sweets.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Earhart Tinsley, who passed away on March 18, 2020, brothers Charles, Ward, and Bill, and nieces Catheryn Brockett and Meg Brantley. Warren is survived by his son Tom (Christina) and grandchildren Caleb and Kyra of Adamstown, MD, as well as his sister-in-law Lois, nephew Warren Paul Brockett (Molly) and their children Thomas, Marshall, and Jefferson Paul (JP) of Severna Park, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help Frederick Health Hospice (Kline House), which was amazing through their support of Warren and the family during this time. https://www.frederickhealthhospice.org/donate-support/.
A celebration of Warren and Dorothy's lives will be held at 10 am on July 6, 2024, at the Living Hope Church located at 155 Early Ave in Gettysburg, PA. For those attending, please wear comfortable, colorful clothing; Warren and Dorothy would want nothing less for their celebration.
