Dr. Warren David Johnson 1992 – 2026 Click here to watch livestream Dr. David Johnson, 33, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away at his residence on January 7, 2026. Dr. Johnson was formerly of Grayson, Kentucky and born on April 27, 1992 in Morehead, KY; the son of Teresa May Johnson of Grayson, Kentucky.
Dr. Johnson was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert "Bob" Johnson; an aunt, Tonya Johnson McGinnis; paternal grandparents, Alan Donta and Virginia Virgin.
Dr. Johnson was a graduate of Greenup County High School, and furthered his education by becoming a professor specializing in Dietetics and Human Nutrition. He previously worked at Alabama State University and was currently teaching at the University of Kentucky.
In addition to his Mother, he is survived by his two dogs, Maya and Chewy which he adored; a brother, Nathan (Mary) Virgin of Greenup; two sisters, Tina Blevins, and Bobbi (Travis) Ison, both of Grayson; his maternal grandmother, Juanita Johnson; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers, and a special friend and mentor, Peggy Bradley who will mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Delmar Rogers and Peggy Bradley, officiating. Burial will follow in the Tussey Cemetery Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Rutland, Austin Harris, John Robert Campbell, Cody Williams, Blake Williams, Nathan Virgin, Dustin Owens, and Kevin Blevins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
