In Loving Memory of Warren Talbot “Tal” Jones
May 21, 1943 – September 27, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Warren Talbot “Tal” Jones, who left us on September 27, 2025 at the age of 82. He passed peacefully in his hometown of Sacramento, California.
Born on May 21, 1943 in San Francisco, California Tal lived a life marked by his unique sense of humor and an ability to talk to anyone. He was a dedicated father who cherished his 2 sons greatly.
After graduating Sacramento High School in 1960, he attended University of California, Berkeley. Tal was an accomplished musician on the clarinet, saxophone and drums. During his time at Berkeley he played in a dixie land jazz band called the “Noise Boys.” He would go on to graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in economics.
At the height U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, Tal enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves where after 6 years of service to our country, he received an Honorable Discharge in the summer of 1971.
He would go on pursue a career as a stockbroker and surety bond underwriter. He married Sally Ann Justus in 1973 and the couple would later have 2 children, Gregory and Trevor.
Tal was known for sense of humor and interests in music, politics, and current events. He found joy in getting to know others and having spirited debates with anyone who was up for the challenge.
Tal is survived by his wife Sally, sons Gregory and Trevor, and his 3 grandchildren Greta, Arthur, and Ingrid. He will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Arvilla and Warren E. Jones.
A memorial service to celebrate Tal's life will be held on Thursday October 9th at 11am at East Lawn Cemetery in East Sacramento. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and share in remembering a remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to PBS KVIE Channel 6 in Tal’s memory.
