Warren Kenneth Tabatt was born August 1, 1939, in Mankato, MN, the son of Friebert and Selma (Riewe) Tabatt. He grew up on the family farm near Lewisville, MN, and attended parochial school.
Warren enlisted in the United States Navy where he completed his schooling and served his county proudly during his time in the military. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Warren returned to Minnesota where he began farming.
Warren farmed for many years before making the move out to California and raised his four sons, Rory, Chad, Lance, and Lane. Warren and his family resided in California for over 30 years before Warren returned to Minnesota where he met and later married Cheryl Shumski on December 12, 2003, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont.
Warren loved life and all the adventures that came from living it to the fullest. He was passionate about music and loved listening to polka music. Most of his life, he looked forward to throwing his leg over the seat of his Harley and cruising the open road with friends and family while the wind was blowing in his hair. He was proud of his time in the Navy and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1222 in Fairmont. Warren loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He especially looked forward to trips out West to see his sons, their families, and old friends. In his later years, Warren could be found most mornings with his friends at breakfast or coffee, catching up on the happenings around the area and making sure his information from the 5:30 news was correct! Warren loved watching westerns and enjoyed anything with John Wayne in it. Warren loved animals and lost many special pets over his lifetime, but enjoyed the company of his new puppy, Reno. Faith was a big part of Warren's life. He found peace in reading the bible and found comfort while praying to his Lord and Savior.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Cheryl Shumski-Tabatt of Fairmont, MN; children, Rory (Tina) Tabatt of Carson, CA, Chad (Heather) Tabatt of Reno, NV, Lance Tabatt of Boulder, CO, and Lane Tabatt of Boulder, CO; step-children, Travis Shumski of Fairmont, MN, Troy (Cheryl) Shumski of Mankato, MN, and Teresa (Brian) Scheff of East Chain, MN; grandchildren, Justine (Rommel) Pablo, Jackie Tayag, Rebekah (Andrew) Flemming, Mackenzie Scheff (fiancé, Tyler Myers), Mitchell (Carlee) Scheff, Jett Shumski, Garrett Shumski (fiancé, Kjerstin Drugan), and Tanner Shumski; great grandchildren, Madeleine and Dominic, step-great grandchild, Maverick; brother, Dale (Sandra) Tabatt; sister-in-law, Launa (Tim) Hilbert; brother-in-law, Maurice Jr. (Jo) Theobald; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Friebert and Selma Tabatt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maurice Sr. and Phyllis Theobald; brother-in-law, Colin Kelly and sister-in-law, Barbara Kelly.
