Waunetta Sue Campbell, 84, of Cotton Center, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Cotton Center with Rev. Terry Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.
Waunetta was born December 11, 1940, in Wellington, Texas, to William Elbert and Myrtle (Hethcox) McClenney. She married the love of her life, Carl Don Campbell, on July 12, 1958, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and love.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Allen & Beach and for Cotton Center Water Supply for more than 30 years. Waunetta found joy in sewing, cooking, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She also made and sewed stockings for soldiers; a heartfelt way she showed her care for others. She deeply loved her family and took great pride in everything she did. Waunetta was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cotton Center, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and loved Jesus more than anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne Elbert McClenney; and her sister, Myrtle LaNell Beavers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Carl Don Campbell; her sons, Joe Campbell and wife Kristine and David Campbell; her daughter, Penny Campbell; and her brothers, Bill McClenney, William Elbert "Rusty" McClenney, Jr., and Mance Carl McClenney. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Casey Spann, Russell Julian, Katie Ruiz, Kourtney Campbell, and Sara Gabel and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest at www.rmhcsouthwest.com.
