Wava Elaine Balk

Wava Elaine Balk, age 78, of Monroe, passed away Friday, January 2, 2025 in her home with her family at her side.

Wava was born May 26, 1947 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Harold Forest and Helen Adonette (Hayes) Grundish.

She was a 1965 graduate of Monroe High School. She enjoyed crafts and card making, spending time with her friends and was a dedicated volunteer for Relay For Life. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and all the special times and memories that came with it. The most important thing to Wava was the time she spent with her family, she especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elaine loved to play softball, playing for over 20 years on Monroe leagues. She also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Toledo Mudhens play.

Elaine worked for more than 30 years as a bookkeeper for Highway Lumber and Mans Building Center, where she was the office manager of the New Boston location before her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Michael) Pacitti of Bruce Twp.; grandchildren, Hannah Pacitti and Mitchell (Lindsey) Pacitti and their children, Vivian, Brooks and one more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Allen Grundish and infant sister, Sarah June Grundish.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Anderson officiating. Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
