Waylan Carl Bradley

Waylan Carl Bradley, 84, passed away on Sunday, December 7. 2025 surrounded by his family after a 9-year battle with dementia.

Visitation will be from 2-3:00 PM, Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Interment will be private in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Waylan was born on July 30, 1941 in Bellflower, California to a very young Violet (Moody) and Carl Bradley. While still a toddler, the family moved back to Tulia and began farming. By 4 or 5 years old, he discovered his first love, which became farming. He’d run behind the tractor until he was exhausted, eventually falling asleep in irrigation ditches. By 6, he was driving the tractor, his blonde head barely visible. The neighbors called this child abuse, but he thought he was in Heaven. Attending school in Tulia, and farming through the summers, he earned enough money to buy a new ‘57 Chevy, thus began his second love of cars. Eventually he would be known for riding his motorcycle through the hallways of Tulia High School.

He married Karyne Berry in 1966 and they were blessed with two daughters, Anisa and Tina. During this time, Waylan was severely injured in a combine accident. For his Physical Therapy, his father - in - law tied his hand to the gear shift of a truck. For the next 40 years, he had his dream job of trucking. He worked for Cutrell Trucking for 32 years. His friends and adventures through truck driving were many. He was known on the CB as “White Lightening”, and it wasn’t surprising to find him polishing his truck on his days off, or super gluing his hand to the dashboard while trying to mount a phone. He retired in 2012.

He married Jonna Sue Adams on June 28, 1980 after their second date. He inherited Michelle and Trey, and together they blended a family where there were no “steps” only our kids, and Trey learned to keep his mouth closed with 3 older sisters. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past summer.

He was raised and sprinkled in the Methodist church in Happy, Texas. As he grew older and his faith grew, he felt a deep desire to be immersed in water and was baptized by Greg Corona at Hillside Christian Church in 2013 at the age of 72. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church until he was no longer able to attend.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Dallas Cowboys, and any sport that his grandkids played. They loved traveling to Las Vegas and Ruidoso to gamble as well. He also enjoyed the penny slots, and pretty ladies.

He is survived by his wife, Jonna, his daughters, Anisa (Joe) Kenemore, Michelle (Rick) Errington, Tina (Stan) Sanders, and his son, Trey (Bree) Adams. 15 grandchildren love him dearly, along with his 10 great grandchildren, one of whom shares his birthday and wonders if he will still be able to take his teeth out in Heaven. A brother-in-law, Russ Pool, several nieces and nephews and a brother, Lonnie Bradley, also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenny Bradley, and a sister, Loretta Cope.

The family asks for memorials to be made to Snack Pack 4 Kids or to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital.
