Wayne A. Ailey, 84, of Sheldon passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Wayne was born on May 24, 1940 in Crescent Township, the son of James W. and Adelia (Ulitzsch) Ailey and they preceded him in death. He married Betty Ann Musgraves on May 22, 1965 in Cobden and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2010. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Ailey; and two sisters, Wanda Bull and Nancy Quakenbush; and one brother-in-law, Gene Quakenbush.
He is survived by one son, Shane (Jill) Ailey of New Palestine, IN; one daughter, Michelle (Glenn) Ward of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Olivia Ward and Ethan Ward; three brothers, Norman (Linda) Ailey of Ashkum, Wendell (Fiona) Ailey of Woodland, and Don Ailey of Watseka; three sisters, Nelda (Bobby) Roth of Watseka, Donna (Bruce) Suver of Onarga, and Lila (Larry) Hill of Champaign; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Eileen Hanna of Watseka. The family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wayne's neighbors, Tina and David Barney.
Wayne was a 1958 graduate of Crescent City High School. He worked at UARCO and Standard Register and was a member of the Crescent City United Methodist Church. Wayne enjoyed working on lawnmowers, playing UNO with friends and family and working in the yard. Wayne had a love for animals, admiring nature, and a passion for cars, especially antique cars.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Kevin Nourie will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or Crescent City United Methodist Church.
