Wayne Clifford Bevan
April 8, 1952 - September 12, 2025
Husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, Wayne Clifford Bevan passed from this earthly life on Sept. 12, 2025. Born on April 8, 1952, in Lorain, Ohio, Wayne stated in his final days, "We had a great life" as he spoke about his sons, William Ian Bevan and William Benjamin Bevan along with his wife Brook Ann Bevan and granddaughters Caitlyn Nicole Overmyer (Damien), Autumn Elizabeth Shea-Bevan and Haley Ann Bevan. They were his family AND caregivers throughout Mr. Bevan's extended illness. He died in their loving embrace.
Mr. Bevan graduated from I.U. South Bend in 1977 with a B.S. in Business and owned "Double Check Tax Service" in Elkhart, Indiana for many years, remaining a Certified Public Accountant for his entire career. In 1984, Mr. Bevan married his wife, Pamela Darlene (Lee) Bevan, and although they eventually divorced, remained devoted friends.
Mr. Bevan enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns and studying History. He particularly enjoyed cooking with his sons as children and with his granddaughters. Cooking and sharing a wide variety of cultural foods was a hobby for Mr. Bevan and he thoroughly enjoyed exposing his granddaughters, Caitlyn, Autumn, and Haley to other cultures through foods they could share as a family. He was a wonderful "Papa", and his grandbabies appreciate and will remember his wise life advice to guide them through their years. He adoringly nicknamed them "Schwartz", "Bubula", and "Snickelfritz" respectively.
Mr. Bevan was preceded in death by his infant daughter (Elizabeth Haley Bevan), his father and mother (William George Bevan Jr. and Jean Louise Dispenza Bevan), his sister (Lynn Bevan Reiter) and his nephews D.J. Milliken and Dominic Phillips.
Surviving siblings are Kathleen Bevan Gaines (daughters Christina Louise Milliken and Erin Haley Milliken (Ray) Phillips) and Lisa Bevan Poynter (children Jonathon Thomas Poynter (Rachele) and Alexa Jaye Poynter.) Mr. Bevan's niece, Denise Crawford, also survives along with several "great" nephews: Sammy Robinson IV, Zachary Crawford, Aaden Crawford, Noah Phillips, Lucas Phillips and Ashton Poynter.
Mr. Bevan cared about and was generous with many friends through the years. His best friend, Mike Bomani must be mentioned as Ben Bevan considers Mike an "Uncle," and looks forward to staying in touch with Mike and his wife. We wish to thank Brook's dad, Frank, for supporting his daughter as a caretaker for her father-in-law. They couldn't have done it without you, Frank! Lastly, we ALL enjoyed Mr. Bevan's wonderful sense of humor, his great love of political banter, and his deep belief in fair treatment for all people. He will be dearly missed by both family and friends.
