Wayne Brandon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Perry Chapel on Dec. 10, 2022.
Wayne Robert Brandon, 71, of Perry, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at his home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel. Pastor Reggie Adkins will celebrate. The Brandon family will receive family and friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am.
Wayne was born on February 5, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Wallace Robert and Merlyn Joyce (Mathieu) Brandon. On August 18, 1973, Wayne married Teresa Lynn Moesta in Waterford and together they raised two children, Catherine and Christopher. Wayne enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 at the age of 17 after his parents signed an age waiver; he attended basic training at Fort Benning, GA the summer after his junior year of high school. He later commissioned as an officer in the US Army Reserves. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996. Wayne graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and served as a police officer for Bath Township for a short time before finding his niche in the insurance business. He spent 27 years in both the Army Reserves and at Allstate Insurance Company where he served as a claims manager. Wayne was a lifelong learner and a devoted man of God, it was his goal to Shepard the lost souls before leaving this earth. He earned a Master's Degree in Divinity from Bethany Bible Seminary and went on to teach at Bethany Baptist Bible College, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to all.
Wayne loved cars, especially Plymouths. He owned Plymouth Doctor Restoration Parts and Martin Powder Coating in Perry. He owned and restored the only known 1935 Plymouth PJE Business Sedan, his pride and joy. He was a member of the Plymouth Owners Club, the Society of Automotive Historians, and the Antique Automobile Club of America to name a few. He was a faithful supporter of the United States Military, was a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the United States Army, and was a member of the Association of the United States Army and Non-Commissioned Officers Association.
Left to cherish his memory, and carry on his impactful life, are his wife of 49 years, Teresa, their children, Catherine (Monty) Spears and Christopher Brandon and his grandchildren: Ava Spears, Noah, Alexander, and Lukas Brandon; also his siblings, SueZanne (Robert) White and Kevin (Leslie) Brandon.
He was welcomed to heaven by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to India Village Care Ministries (https://indiavillagecare.com/). Wayne faithfully supported this ministry both monetarily and physically through his mission work.

I served with Wayne in Flint, MI. I was his Command Sergeant Major. Always enjoyed our talks, he had a good sense of humor. We're together just a few months. Wayne will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. I served with Wayne for many years in the Army Reserve. He was a fine officer, leader and friend. He was well regarded by many officers and NCO's for his hard work and experience.

Was active Army serving as personnel NCOIC for 70th Div. Worked with LTC Brandon. We worked very hard but also had time to play pranks on fellow soldiers. On one occasion at FT. Custer the General was visiting our troops and unfortunately fell in fox hole during night menuvers. He broke his leg (I think) but at any rate we devised an award of a dragon with a cast on it and awarded it in formation...you had to be there lol! That was just one of many pranks/fun times we had! I enjoyed working with him and calling him friend still all these years later. Recently I sent him a WWII medallion in honor of his dad's service. He was very happy I remembered his dad's service...Wayne Brandon was a good man who was loved and respected by many! God be with his beautiful family at this very difficult time! RIP!
