Wayne Brotherton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Markland-Yager Funeral Home - New Franklin on Oct. 30, 2025.
We woke up this morning, and the world was off, askew, missing a very specific color. The world has lost a beautiful man.
Wayne Brotherton died October 27th, 2025, supported by people loving him through and he finished his work right on time.
They say that one's legacy is created in the dash between the dates. Not the case with this guy. Wayne's continues to move and meld, bonding colorful elements together as his loved people, cherished friends, family and dogs move through the world, having been forever influenced by him.
Wayne leaves us tangible beauty. His glass work was always artistry and beauty magnified by light. When you look at his windows, his concrete work, the things he has built, you can perceive the unique combination of creativity that flowed between forms and yet was guided by an uncanny mathematical skill.
He touched others quite literally through his healing hands, providing comfort and relief through massage.
He continues to touch us with his kindness, his incredible honesty and brutal integrity. The bonds forged in his relationships were tested by life's challenges and endured. He was always willing to be of service, to those around him, his country when he was called, and to those he loved, faithfully. He was thoughtful and willing to grow. Wayne always sought to be on the compassionate and loving side of history and politics. Those of us here and striving to carry on, will endeavor to do the same.
Wayne was not only gifted, artistic, honest, kind, loving, and the best friend and partner, he was funny, crass and vulgar in the best way. He was quick to laugh and find the silly, often loquacious while belching and lauded for his HUGE Professorial talents. His humor at times dark, occasionally self-depreciating, was always endearing and just a touch warped.
With those he loved and who loved him, he shared an appreciation of the healing tranquility of nature. With a legacy of Good Dogs by his side he recharged outside. Whether in woods, on rivers or boundary waters, boots or a boat was all he needed to connect on his own or to share the experience with others.
Those who love him and who he loved will move through our grief. He left us with the truth that with every challenging experience he encountered in life, be it cancer, Parkinson's or mental health struggles, the most daunting was mental health. Be kind to others and to yourself.
Wayne, we will keep you in our hearts for a while.
