Wayne Lee Cathey, 75, of Ada, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1949 to his parents Otis Kile "Bob" Cathey and Virgie Lee Polson in Ada, Oklahoma. After he graduated from Caddo High School in 1948, he furthered his education in business at East Central University and Southeastern State University. On August 13, 1976 Wayne married the love of his life, Pearl Ann Jones, and they shared forty-eight beautiful years together as well as faithfully raised their daughter, Sunny. In 1980, Wayne moved his family from Caddo to Ada to start OK Auto Parts. From this he created a thriving Auto Salvage and Used Cars business for himself, transitioning to auto glass repair and continued to help his community for over sixty years. Wayne appreciated being able to work on the vehicles that he cared for, and even when he finished, you could still find him visiting with his friends at the local scrap yard. Wayne was a proud Chickasaw Citizen and enjoyed the company and activities that were hosted at the Chickasaw Nation Senior Site. He was always smiling, happy and truly enjoying the life that he had as well as being very proud of his family. Wayne cherished spending time with them, enjoying meals or holidays, whatever the occasion, Wayne was always there with a huge smile on his face having the time of his life. He will be dearly missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have met him.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father Bob Cathey, his mother Virgie Cathey, his brother Stafney Cathey, and his step-daughter Ginger Ann Riley.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ann Cathey, his daughter Sunny Harris and husband Justin, his grandsons Sean Harris and wife Jentrie, and Joshua Harris, his great-grandchildren Averie Harris and Tucker Harris, his sister Carles Bagby and husband Richard, his brother Kenneth Cathey and numerous nieces, nephews, and precious friends.
Pallbearers are as follows: Sean Harris, Josh Harris, Holden Bell, John Chaney, Levi Bagby, and Dillion Cranford.
A funeral service will be held to honor Wayne's life on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00PM at Crosspointe Church in Ada with interment to follow at LeHigh Cemetery in LeHigh, Oklahoma.
Prior to the service, visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 and Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM.
