Wayne Druilhet was born on January 1, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2025.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Druilhet, his sister Gwynith Green, his father Edgar Druilhet. and his mother Gwynith Druilhet.
He is survived by his sister Melanie Morris, brother-in-law Henry Hague Jr., his sons Andrew (Kimberly) Druilhet and Michael (Christian) Druilhet and his grandchildren, Aaron, Kara, Miles and Tilly.
Wayne was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.
After finishing high school, Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy where he visited various ports of call around the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the Mediterranean Sea, and rose to the rank of Machinist Mate First Class. He was Honorably Discharged after six years of service and then moved back to Houston, Texas.
Wayne started work at Marriott Hotels in Houston and through his sister, Melanie, he would meet his future wife, Beverly. Wayne and Beverly married in December of 1970. They had their first son, Andy, and then later Mike while living in Sugarland, Texas. The family would later move to Austin, and then finally to San Antonio as Wayne became the Director of Facilities for the Marriott Riverwalk hotel. Wayne was hired to become the Director of Facilities for the USAA Towers as it was being built and would continue to work there after construction was completed. His last job before retirement was working for the San Antonio Water System.
Wayne loved to fish and the family would go on many fishing trips to lakes Amistad, Falcon, Whitney, Canyon, Calaveras, and Braunig on the weekends. He was also an excellent cook. His fajitas, ribs, chicken, and burgers were favorites with family and friends. He had a love / hate relationship with his favorite NFL team, the Houston Oilers. Many couch armrests can attest to his passion for the game.
Whenever he and his sisters were together, it would bring out his extroverted side. They would laugh, tell funny stories, and play practical jokes. No one was spared. He would often impersonate celebrities, especially when he attended the rehearsal dinner for his nephew's weddings as Father Guido Sarducci. He loved to tell his sons humorous stories of his time in the Navy and you never knew when "Julia Childs" would make an appearance when he was cooking.
He held a special place in his heart for nature and had a love for animals but his first love was always for his family, especially his daughters-in-law and his grandchildren.
Wayne was a man of strong convictions and deeply loved by all who knew him. He is at rest now and reunited with his wife, older sister, and his parents and in-laws. He is at home in heaven and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for Wayne is being planned with details to follow.
